The eB3Kit Successfully Implemented at the Medical Research Council Unit The Gambia at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine

From 25-28 September 2018, the Medical Research Council Unit The Gambia at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine (MRCG at LSHTM) hosted a B3Africa workshop in Fajara, The Gambia. The objective of the workshop was to pilot the implementation of the B3Africa informatics platform, the eB3Kit, at the MRCG at LSHTM. The event gathered 30 participants, including Biobank and Laboratory Managers, IT Specialists, Quality Managers from the MRCG at LSHTM, as well as B3Africa developers.

Two instances of the eB3Kit were successfully deployed, using the BIBBOX operating system.  In addition, participants could test applications that were relevant to them (Baobab LIMS, Galaksio and Galaxy for bioinformatics and the Biobank Learning platform) and discuss their specific requirements with the developers of each application.

Two representatives from the Pasteur Institute in Dakar also attended the workshop. They could then successfully deploy the eB3Kit in a test environment at their institution, and start testing Baobab Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).
